SFMY was born and grew up in Kelantan where she attended primary, secondary school (Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Tumpat, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tumpat, Maktab Rendah Sains Mara Kuala Krai). Then, she moved South, to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Johor) to complete her 3 years BSc. After that, she began her Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof Dr Ian Manners in March 2008, working on a synthesis and self-assembly of polyferrocenylsilane block copolymers. After graduating in September 2011, SFMY returned back to Malaysia and work as lecturer/reseacher in University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Her work spanned a number of areas including the synthesis and self-assembly of metal-containing polymers, applications of chemically modified liquid natural rubber and complexation of macrocylic tetraaza.
